When I decided to put on a family jacket my sole interest was to serve a cause greater than myself - protecting children from internet predators. I've never wavered from this issue and I'm more loyal to it than any one person or group. The recent decision by the Supreme Court regarding the Internet Child Protection Act has placed the responsibility of child safety into the hands of the computer user. I support freedom of speech and the Porn Industry's right to exist, but I strongly believe in an individual's right NOT to listen. Therefore, the chief weapon of parents, teens and children will have to be education. The Cyber Crusaders are and will be at the vanguard of this effort, and I'm compelled to go in the direction that best suits my effectiveness and passion. It is vital for my personal growth and well being to believe in what I'm doing and act in an ethical and honest way, to provide a positive example and contribution that will benefit everyone. I cannot serve honestly if I am not first honest with myself, nor can I waste my time in needless competition.
Rivalries, wars, spying, and drama distract members, waste time and resources, and undermine personal credibility. These things contribute to the problems of chat, and creating a positive example for everyone, including crews and civilians, via mutual respect should be the number one priority of every crew. Not everyone is capable or willing to help move toward that goal, but for some like me, it's more important to do what's right. In the same way that many have strong opinions against crews, those same people would change their minds if it were demonstrated that crews are an effective means of making chat better for everyone.
Helping NPK members and others become better computer users, encouraging people, especially young adults to stick closely to their values, and effectively help in the mission of protecting children are the foundation of my contribution. I've never viewed crew life as a competition, and creating a website for anyone to share is part of this. My site is not exclusively for NPK; it also serves my friends and colleagues. This was the olive branch I put forward to help end the rivalries and answer vital questions about the soul of the NPK; why it exists and what it hopes to accomplish. I know the vision I have for the NPK and groups like it - I sincerely wish that ALL the families concentrate on what they need to do and stop competing with each other.
My website will remain open and serve as neutral ground where groups and individuals can share and contribute information, learn about themselves and their equipment and help bring positive change. The NPK message will remain and be combined with others as well as my own. Defensive programs will remain. Contacts with Law Enforcement and family counseling will remain. Computer articles will remain. Articles about personal growth, leadership and teamwork will be added.
Booting programs will not be found on my site, ever. I don't use them, nor do I encourage others to use them. I prefer the defensive approach such as the "ignore" or "block user" feature. I leave the decision and responsibility of using booters to you. We need to work together, not against each other and understand that it is more important to focus on what is right rather than who is right.
